1959: PIONEERS AND INNOVATORS

H. C. Sonderegger and W. P. Kistler had the vision to CHANGE THE WORLD. With their passion for technology and their curiosity of how to implement their brilliant idea "from crystal to sensor" they built the basis for Kistler Innovation. In 1961 they introduced the world's first quartz force sensor. The sensor business was extended with electronics.

2002: ROLF SONDEREGGER

took over the leadership of Kistler Group and made sure to continue the status of being the number ONE in measurement technology. We have been growing rapidly by INNOVATION and integration of new products. The product portfolio could be as well extended by 14 acquisitions within the last 20 years (+562 employees).

INNOVATORS THINK AHEAD

We align our product portfolio to the needs of our customers. We have expanded our product portfolio over the years: from sensors, to electronics, to systems, to solutions, to data. With the steady growth of employees and changing market needs, we have adapted our organization and business model three times. A reorganization requires a clear strategy. Our strategy is aligned with the mega trends of the ever-changing world, which have a significant impact on our future.

  • 2003 (+600 employees): “Silent Revolution” by Rolf Sonderegger

  • 2011 (+1000 employees): “Kistler Next” by the Executive Committee

  • 2020 (+2000 employees): “KI1000” by all Kistler leaders

With globally more than 2'200 employees and different market needs, a common understanding of our strategy is key. As leaders we need to make sure that every single member of staff works towards the same goals and points their efforts in the same direction. Strategy help us define our business.

2020: KI1000 JOURNEY, STRATEGY

As Innovators we have a strategy with ambitious long-term goals. The goal of Kistler Next was to reach 500'000'000 CHF by 2020. In the last years we have lost momentum and Corona delayed our plan. We will reach Ki500 almost 4 years later.

2023: LET'S MAKE THE QUANTUM LEAP AS ONE KISTLER

To reach "KI1000" we need to gain momentum again.

Big steps are required. QUANTUM LEAP.

KI1000 ORGANIZATION

Our organization is formed according to our Kistler Business System (KBS). The mega trends show us the direction. New markets might create the need to form our organization. This is why we have to monitor the mega trends constantly.

In the center of our ONE Kistler chart, we have our CORPORATE STRATEGY. All stakeholders of the outer circles need to develop and implement their strategy according to the Group's expectations.

All strategies have binding frames and expectations (Cost frame / Benchmark).

In the inner circle we have our people responsible for the platforms. They support all OEs/BUs, countries and regions.

The Head of OEs will make sure that the BUs follow the strategy. The Head of BUs are responsible for the Product Roadmaps (our future). Our Sales in the main countries need to follow the direction of the BUs.

The COOs of China and USA have the strategic responsibility for their countries.

The Head of Regions are totally independent from the OE's/BU's direction Their goal is to find the right market and perform on the operative level with double-digit profitability.

All Sales take the initiative to provide customer's feedback (trends, needs, issues, etc.) to the BUs/Countries/Regions. With this we can better plan our product roadmap.

People of all functions are invited. Almost half of the participants are Sales. More than half of the participants are from region DACH. Switzerland arrives with > 80 and Germany with > 70 people.
